About
Ali is an award-winning performing & visual artist from Ngunnawal & Ngambri Country. She has a BA (hons) in Applied Theatre from Griffith University. Ali’s work focuses on the power of storytelling to strengthen human connection through art, activation and creative expression. Because when we design experiences that invite expression, we create space for trust, transformation and joy. Her creative work spans across art forms with significant achievements in theatre, visual arts, music and community cultural development.
She is known to delight young audiences as a playwright & performer in her interactive solo clowning show, Suitcase Universe that recently returned from a successful Sydney tour commissioned by the Fairfield City Council.
Since 2016 Ali has worked as a playwright, actor and facilitator for Mindblank Ply Ltd, a forum theatre company working across ACT, NSW, QLD and the NT. Ali co- produced, directed & performed ‘At the End of Our Street’ for Rebus Playback Ensemble’s, ‘Project Alchemy Bushfire Recovery Tour’ ACT, NSW & VIC funded by Australian Department of Industry’s Black Summer Bushfire Recovery Grants Program.
She won a Canberra Critics Circle award for her work as co-director, writer and performer for ‘What if Scientists Ruled the World’ commissioned by The Australian Academy of Science. Her work later being commissioned by Questacon and developed into ‘Chain Reaction’ for the National Science and Technology Centre.
In 2010 she won a Spirit of RecLink Award for years of dedicated work as the Director of Acting Crazy. A drama group for adults who have experienced disadvantage due to mental illness or brain injury. Recognising the crucial role stortelling through multiple art forms has on community. Ali continues to find ways to share, reflect and tell stories of her local community.
